SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Drury maintained their hold on second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference as they split a doubleheader with Missouri-St. Louis at Thompson Field in Springfield on Sunday. The Panthers lost game one 6-1 but rebounded for a 5-4 win in the second game.

Drury moved their record to 16-7 and 10-2 in the GLVC, while the Tritons went to 12-18 and 6-10 in the league.

UMSL took control of game one, scoring two runs in the first and two more in the second. The Tritons took a 6-0 lead in the fourth, then Drury got on the board with a run in the bottom half of the inning when
Lauren Beier scored from third on a throwing error.

The Panthers threatened in the fifth, putting runners at second and third with no outs, but Missouri-St. Louis got out of the inning and closed out the contest to win 6-1.

Mimi Bradley (8-5) got the win going seven innings, allowing five hits and one unearned run with two walks and six strikeouts.
Lauren Beier (4-2) took the loss for Drury.

The Panthers won game two on the strength of a four-run fourth inning. After Jenna Towle tied the game at 1-1 on a solo home run, Drury grabbed the lead on a two-RBI hit by
Devin Hale.
Lauren Beier then drove in two more runs with a single to give the Panthers a four-run lead.

Missouri-St. Louis pulled within a run in the top of the seventh on a three-run home run by Corrine Daley, but Drury got a ground ball to end the contest.

Hale ended the game going 2 for 3 with a single, double, and three RBI's.

Karsyn Smith (5-0), who pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in game one, worked a complete game for the Panthers to get the win. Smith gave up eight hits and four runs, with no walks and three strikeouts. Towle (2-10) took the loss in relief for the Tritons.   Â

Drury plays again on Monday when they host Lindenwood in a doubleheader at Thompson Field starting at noon. The twin-bill was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed by rain.
