ROLLA, Mo.— Missouri S&T scored six runs in the seventh inning and another three in the eighth to win 21-15 over the Drury Panthers in a Friday marathon at The Ballpark at S&T in Rolla.
Friday's schedule was adjusted to a doubleheader because of rain in the forecast for Saturday, but the second half of the twin-bill was postponed by darkness following the 3-hour, 43-minute contest.
Drury dropped to 8-12 and 8-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Miners went to 9-12 and 5-8 in the league.
The Panthers trailed 3-1 after two innings but took the lead with six runs in the top of the third. The Miners answered with their own six-run third inning to go back in front 9-7.
Drury took a 14-12 lead in the sixth when they posted another six-run frame, but S&T answered with nine runs over the seventh and eighth to get the win.
Riley Herron went 3 for 5 at the plate for the Panthers collecting six runs batted in, two runs scored, and a pair of doubles.
DJ McNew homered for a third straight game and was 2 for 5 with a run, three RBI's, and a triple.
The four-game series will now resume with a doubleheader on Sunday at noon, and the final game of the series is scheduled for Monday.
