SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- The Drury Panthers came from behind to win game one but were held to two hits in game two as they split a doubleheader at Illinois Springfield on Saturday. The Panthers won game one 7-4, then fell in the second game 8-1.

Drury ended the day 24-13 and 18-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Prairie Stars went to 17-25 and 12-14 in the league.

The Panthers trailed 2-0 going into the fifth inning of game one, but after tying the contest at 2-2, fell behind again as Illinois Springfield scored in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the sixth,
Camryn BeDell evened the score at 3-3 with an RBI double, then
Abby Tiemann's sacrifice fly put the Panthers in front 4-3. Drury opened up the lead with three runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single BeDell, who finished the game going 4 for 4 with a double and three runs batted in.

Karsyn Smith got the win in relief and raised her record to 9-0 as she went 6.2 innings allowing 10 hits and three runs, with three walks and eight strikeouts. Payton Long (1-3) took the loss for Illinois Springfield.

In game two, Drury tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second, but the Prairie Stars took control with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. UIS starting pitcher Addison (5-4) took over from there, holding the Panthers to two hits and one unearned run with one walk and five strikeouts.
Bailee Nixon (5-3) took the loss for Drury.

The Panthers end the regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader at Quincy starting at noon.
