ROLLA, Mo.— Drury won the opening set and was a point away from forcing a fifth set, but Missouri S&T closed out the match for a 3-1 over the Panthers on Tuesday in Rolla.
Drury fell to 9-5 and 2-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Miners improved to 9-3 and 3-1 in the GLVC.
Both teams had a set-point in the opening frame, but the Panthers took a 1-0 lead winning the set 27-25. Missouri S&T pulled away from Drury in the second set 25-17, then earned a 25-14 victory in the third. The Panthers nearly forced the match to a fifth set leading 24-23 in the fourth, but the Miners rallied and clinched the victory, 27-25.
Juliana Squire led Drury with 15 kills and 18 digs. All-conference product
Chloe Rear returned to the Drury line-up for the first time since the Panthers season-opener and had 19 assists, while
Taylor Forth and
Hannah Tadlock had six blocks each.
Payton Gannaway led the Miners with 17 kills and six aces.
Drury is back at home on Friday when they host Rockhurst to a 5 pm match at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
