INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Drury and Indianapolis met in an action-filled contest on Friday afternoon. Both the Panthers and Greyhounds scored goals early in the contest. Drury broke the tie in the 32
nd minute and held onto the lead for the rest of the match.
It was Drury's sixth win on the season and moved their record to 6-1-6 and 3-1-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Greyhounds have moved to 4-5-4 and 3-3-3.
Drury struck first, scoring in the 5
th minute when
Elsa Gonzalez fired a perfect shot into the lower left corner for a goal.
Tara Simon was credited with the assist.
Indianapolis was able to tie the game after a goal in the 9
th minute by Ella DeSmet. The match would go scoreless for several minutes until a free kick goal was scored by
Ines Villanueva Casal in the 32
nd minute.
The day wasn't over yet for
Elsa Gonzalez, as she scored once more in the 84
th minute on a skillful shot into the lower left side of the goal.
Andrea Camargo had a clutch pass over a defender to grab the assist for the goal.
The Panthers and Greyhounds each had 4 shots on goal.
Kaitlin Knetzke tallied 3 saves during the contest.
Elsa Gonzalez's pair of goals were her third and fourth scored on the season.
The Panthers are on the road for their next game as they travel to Lebanon, Illinois on Sunday to take on #12 McKendree. Kickoff will be at 12 pm (Central).
