Panthers host GLVC tournament quarterfinal against Illinois Springfield.
The Panthers host the fifth-seeded Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield in the GLVC tournament quarterfinals on Sunday at 6 pm.
 
Drury is on a three-game unbeaten streak, having defeated Lewis 1-0 in their last regular season game on Oct. 23. Illinois Springfield is even hotter, riding a 10-game unbeaten streak after thrashing Southwest Baptist 5-0 in Bolivar.
 
The last game played between these two sides was Oct. 21 at Harrison Stadium ended in a 1-1 tie. A penalty scored in the 11^th minute by forward Jamie O'Brien gave the Panthers an early lead. The Prairie Stars dominated almost all areas of the game from that point on, outshooting the Panthers 19-6 and 9-4 with shots on target. Goalkeeper Tyler Frolik made eight saves for Drury while Marjin van Wandelen had three stops for Illinois Springfield. The slim lead would not hold for the Panthers as forward Max Tweddle would head a ball past Frolik in the 79^th minute on a cross from defender Drew Keller. The Panthers would hold then repel the Prairie Stars' attack and hold on for the tie.
 
Drury comes into this contest as fifth-best in the league in both offensive and defensive metrics. Spearheading the Panthers' attack are forwards Jamie O'Brien and Kaelen Debbage, who have five and eight goals respectively. O'Brien is fourth all-time in Drury history for goals and tied for fifth in points. Debbage is second in the GLVC this season in points, he is also tied for first in goals. Midfielder Nathan Logue has also had an impressive first season as he has three goals and four assists to his name. Midfielder Jung So has two goals and two assists, while defender Jacob Schmidt has two goals and one assist while also being part of a backline that has let up less than a goal a game. Defenders John Clout, Mason Booth, Jakob Limpert, and Owen Price have also helped the goalkeeper union of Drew Findley and Tyler Frolik to an impressive defensive record.
 
Illinois Springfield comes into this match ranked third offensively in the GLVC and have scored 29 goals on the season. The two-headed attack of forwards Billy Nzojyibwami and Max Tweddle both have six goals and three assists. Midfielder Conal Gallagher leads the team in assists with five and has chipped in with two goals himself. Midfielder Anton Aduwa-Emovon and defender Rory Carlson have provided good tertiary scoring options as Carlson has two goals and two assists while Aduwa-Emovon has one goal and three assists. The Prairie Stars have had to use four goalkeepers this year but the one who has taken over as the number one in the past weeks has been Marjin van Wandelen. He has put up five shutouts on the year and made 11 saves. Helping the keeper has been Carlson, Drew Keller, Adrien Adames, Luis Flores, and Terence Bynoe. Head coach Adam Hall is entering into his seventh year as head coach of Illinois Springfield. He has never lost to Drury with his record against the Panthers 4-0-3.
 
The winner of the match goes on to face the winner of #1 Maryville vs. #8 Missouri S&T on Nov. 4^th. The GLVC semifinals and finals will be hosted by the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
