Panthers fall at home to Illinois Springfield in GLVC quarterfinals
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury's GLVC tournament run has come to an end in the quarterfinals at the hands of Illinois Springfield at Harrison Stadium this Sunday night.

The Panthers, as of now, are waiting to see how the other results around the region go as they will wait to see if they are selected as one of the eight teams to advance to the NCAA tournament.

The four versus five seed matchup between the Panthers and Prairie Stars was one that got awarded the nightcap of all GLVC action as all of the results from the games had been decided except for the one at Harrison Stadium. A misty start led to a rainy end of the game as Jamie O'Brien got the game's first goal after eight minutes in a goal-line scramble. The ball eventually fell to the feet of the striker as he netted the 35th goal of his career and gave the Panthers a lead. That advantage was short-lived though as ten minutes later forward Billy Nzojyibwami netted his first of the game in a similar style to O'Brien's. Nzojyibwami then doubled his tally on the night as well as Illinois Springfield's when he scored from a cross by Rory Carlson that had taken a touch by Anton Aduwa-Emovan.

The second half had much of the same action as the teams would trade possession with each other and eventually, the cards started to stack up for both sides. Head coach Ben Taylor received a yellow card in the 52nd minute which off of the ensuing free kick led to the third and final goal for the Prairie Stars as Federico D'Andrea rifled a shot into the back of the net, beating goalkeeper Tyler Frolik and giving Illinois Springfield a comfortable 3-1 lead.  After multiple fouls were conceded by both sides, some resulted in yellow cards to Rory Carlson of Illinois Springfield and Sebastian Smeed of Drury. A yellow card to defender John Clout was just enough to cause a long stoppage in play which led to Taylor receiving his second yellow card of the game which results in a red card. His dismissal though was not enough for the Panthers to find a way to unlock the Prairie Stars' defense again as the game ended 3-1 in favor of Illinois Springfield. They will face the 1-seeded Maryville Saints in St Louis on Friday in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament.

The Panthers got outshot by Illinois Springfield 16-6 (6-2 on goal). Tyler Frolik made three saves to Marjin van Wandelen's one.

The Panthers will be waiting for next Sunday as the NCAA will announce their bracket for the tournament. If Drury is one of the eight selected, they will travel to one of the higher seeds and play on Thursday, November 10th.
