ST. LOUIS, Mo.– Maryville kept the Drury Panthers off of the scoreboard and advanced in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament with a 1-0 win in the quarterfinals on Sunday in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Saints, the third seed on the conference bracket, advance to the semifinals with a 9-2-6 record, while Drury fell to 6-3-8.
Maryville, who went undefeated in the league regular season with a 6-0-6 conference record, got on the board late in the first half. Elsa Nilson-Hurtig scored her first goal of the year and put the Saints on the board in the 31
st minute, getting an assist from Madison Canoy.
The Saints defense only allowed six shots and did not surrender a shot on goal. Drury goalkeeper
Kaitlin Knetzke saw eight shots and made three saves in the loss.
Maryville will play will the winner of second-seeded McKendree and number seven Indianapolis in the semifinals on Friday.
