Panthers host DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic
Drury hosts the DoubleTree Thanksgiving Classic this week as they take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, then Arkansas Tech on Wednesday. Both games start at 7:45 pm at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
William Jewell is also in action in the event as the Cardinals face Arkansas Tech on Tuesday at 3:15 pm, then Southwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 3:15 pm.
 
The Panthers enter the week 2-1 after an 85-71 loss at Rogers State on Nov. 16. Drury won their first two games with home wins over Northwood, 80-61, on Nov. 11, and Lake Superior State, 92-78, on Nov. 12.
 
Southwestern Oklahoma State comes to Springfield with a 1-2 record. The Bulldogs started the season with a 59-56 win at home over Fort Hays State on Nov. 11, then fell to Emporia State 88-65 the following day. Last Wednesday, SWOSU dropped a home contest to Cameron 83-71.
 
Arkansas Tech enters the event 0-3. The Wonder Boys were at Southwestern Oklahoma State's Tipoff Classic and fell to Emporia State 67-57 in their opener, then lost to Fort Hays State 58-49. Arkansas Tech is coming off of a 56-49 loss at home to Texas-Tyler on Nov. 16.
 
William Jewell starts this DoubleTree Classic with a 1-3 record.
 
After this week's games, the Panthers open their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule on Nov. 28 at home against Missouri S&T. Tipoff is at 7:45 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
Home for Thanksgiving
Drury has gone 15-5 in the Thanksgiving Classic they've hosted since 2011-12 (the 2020-21 season was a conference-only schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic).
 
The Panthers have won both games in the event six times, have gone 1-1 three times, and have lost both games in the classic only once, which happened in 2015 when they dropped games to Union (Tenn.) and Cameron.
