DU assistant Chris Carr to be inducted into Missouri Sports Hall of Fame next week

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's basketball assistant coach Chris Carr will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame next week at the Hall of Fame's Basketball Luncheon on Dec. 13 at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield.
 
Carr played six seasons in the NBA and was the Player of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference during his junior season at Southern Illinois. A native of Ironton, Missouri, he was an All-State honoree at Arcadia Valley High School in 1992. Carr then helped Southern Illinois to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and scored 1,251 points in three seasons before being a second round NBA draft pick by the Phoenix Suns. He was the runner-up in the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk contest finishing second to Kobe Bryant. Carr is one of only 74 players from Missouri to have played in the NBA or ABA, and only 24 from the state appeared in more NBA games.
 
After six years in the NBA and two seasons playing professionally overseas, Carr returned to the Minnesota area where he started his coaching career. He posted a 106-34 record for the Eden Printorie girls program before starting a five year stretch as an assistant for Kansas State. 
 
Carr will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next week along with former Missouri star Kim English, former Strafford girls head coach Steve Frank, NCAA referee Buford Goddard, and former Lady Bear Casey Garrison Powell. Teams that will be inducted include Exeter's 1963 boys championship team, McDonald County girls high school teams from 1980honore Logan-Rogersville high school boys team from 1982-86.
 
The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame will also honor 10 Filbert Five awards. Former Lady Panthers standout and Drury assistant coach Katie Pritchard will be receiving a Filbert Five award along with Korry Tillery, who played one season for the Panthers before transferring to Evangel.
