OZARK, Mo.— Drury stayed undefeated with a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Parkside on Sunday at US Baseball Park in Ozark. The Panthers rallied to win game one 10-6, then erupted for a 19-2 win in the second game.
Drury ended the day 9-0 while the Rangers started the season 0-2.
Trailing 6-5 in the seventh, Drury took over the game with a five-run frame in the bottom of the seventh.
DJ McNew tied the game with an RBI-single, then
Cooper Munro put the Panthers in front with a bases-loaded double that produced three runs.
Kaden Helsel capped the inning driving in a run with a base-hit.
McNew went 3 for 5 with two runs, three RBI's, a double, and three stolen bases. The Panthers swiped nine bases in the game.
Logan Pittman (2-0) pitched four scoreless innings in relief for the win.
Drury picked up the sweep scoring 19 runs in game two for 19-2 victory in seven innings. The Panthers had a 9-0 lead after two innings and blew the game open further scoring eight times in fifth.
McNew went 3 for 5 with three runs, four RBI's, a double and a triple.
Aaron Mann was 3 for 3 with three runs, two RBI's and a double.
Nikko Calabro drove in five runs going 2 for 3 with two walks.
Cody Bahl (3-0) struck out 12 batters, second-most ever by a Drury pitcher in a single game. The sophomore from Lee's Summit got the complete-game win and only walked one batter while allowing four hits and two earned runs.
Drury has scored double-digits in eight of their first nine games.
The Panthers and Rangers complete their three-game series on Monday at 1 pm at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
