SAN ANGELO, Tex. – San Angelo State got a run in the bottom of the ninth to squeak past Drury 7-6 on Sunday in San Angelo, Texas.
The 17
th ranked Rams improved to 17-5, while the Panthers fell to 13-4.
The lead went back-and-forth on Sunday, with Drury getting a run in the seventh to pull within one, then tied the game with a run in the eighth.
Austin Fennewald belted a home run to left field in the seventh as the Panthers got with one, 6-5.
Stephen Randazzo then went deep for a solo shot in the eighth that tied the game at 6-6.
San Angelo State won the game in the ninth, though, as the Rams got the game-winning single from Tyler Boggs, who drove in Kamden Kelton from third base.
Fennewald went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run, two runs batted in, a homer, and a walk. Randazzo scored three runs in the game while going 2 for 4.
Aaron Mann also went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run for the Panthers.
Drury returns home to play a three-game non-conference series against Southern Indiana next weekend. Game one against the Screaming Eagles is Friday at 4 pm at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
