SAN ANGELO, Tex. – 17
th ranked San Angelo State used a six-run second to jump-start them to a 20-3 win over the Drury Panthers on Saturday in San Angelo, Texas.
The Rams improved to 16-5, while Drury dropped to 13-3.
San Angelo State scored six runs on six hits in the second inning and took advantage of an error in the Panthers outfield that led to five unearned runs in the frame. Four of the six hits in the frame were doubles.
The Rams took a 10-0 after a four-run third inning and eight more runs in the seventh.
Drury got a three-hit game from
Jackson Dierenfeldt, who went 3 for 5 with a stolen base.
Kaden Helsel hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning.
The two teams play the second game of their weekend series on Sunday at 2 pm in San Angelo, Texas.
