SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury pitcher
Kristina Bettis fired a two-hit shutout as the Panthers knocked off 13
th ranked Central Oklahoma on the final day of the Drury Classic on Sunday at Thompson Field in Springfield.
Drury improved to 12-7 while the Broncos dropped to 16-3.
Bettis, a junior from Sewanee, Illinois, allowed only two hits and four walks while striking out eight and improved to 8-1 on the season.
Drury struck early as
Gracie Thomas belted a two-run home run in the first inning. The Panthers tacked on another run in the second as
Meagan Mullaney drove in Camryn Bedell with a single to left field.
Mullaney finished the game going 2 for 4, while
Abby Tiemann and
Megan Parsley also had two-hit games.
The Panthers open their Great Lakes Valley Conference season next weekend as they travel to Rockhurst for a doubleheader on Friday at noon in Kansas City, Missouri.
