WARRENSBURG, Mo. – 17th ranked Central Missouri found points when they needed them in a 3-1 win over Drury on Tuesday night in Warrensburg, Missouri. The Panthers dropped to 7-7, while the Jennies went to 8-4.
Drury had late leads in the first two sets. The Panthers owned a 21-20 in the opening frame, only to have Central Missouri surge to take the first set 25-22. In the second, Drury was up 20-16 until the Jennies claimed nine of the next 10 points for a 25-21 win. The Panthers dominated the third set, winning 25-17, but Central Missouri pulled away in the fourth to close out the match 25-19.
Three Drury players registered in double-figures in kills led by
Salma Lewis' 14.
Kayli Duncan added 12 and
Hanna Vorhies 11. Senior
Chloe Rear finished the game with 40 assists, marking her second-straight game with at least 40, and
Juliana Squire led the squad in digs with 26. Duncan had five block assists, while Rear had four.
Central Missouri's Kersti Nix led both squads in kills with 15, while Chandler Vaughn had 37 assists and five block assists.
The win was the sixth straight for the Jennies, and they snapped Drury's three-game winning streak.
The Panthers return home for a match Friday against Rockhurst. Game time is 6 pm at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
