Drury faces Indianapolis at home
Fresh off of a thrilling come-from-behind, two-point win over McKendree on Thursday, the Drury Panthers return to the floor to take on Indianapolis on Saturday at 1 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
The Panthers have won their last two games and are 5-8 and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Thursday, Drury rallied from 12 points down in the second half to take down McKendree 75-73 at home.
Â
Panthers guard
Logan Applegate scored 31 points in Thursday night's win, a season-high for any Drury player this year. He now owns the top two scoring games for the Panthers this season, having poured in 26 at Southern Arkansas on Dec. 19. The freshman from Nevada upped his average on the season to 9.8 points per game and he is shooting .500 from three-point range for the year having hit 29 of 58 behind the arc.
Â
Indianapolis is 11-2 and 3-2 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds have been idle since New Year's Eve when they defeated Ohio Christian 97-61 in a home contest. Indianapolis started the year 4-0 and ranked in the top 25 until a conference loss to Quincy, 62-57, on Nov. 26. The Greyhounds have league wins at Truman St. (80-57), William Jewell (72-56), and at Maryville (75-58). Their other conference loss was to Rockhurst at home, 71-61, on Dec. 3. Indianapolis comes to Springfield on a five-game winning streak.
Â
The Greyhounds are led by Jesse Bingham, who is averaging 15.6 points. The 6'6" sophomore has scored in double-figures in all 13 games this season.
Â
After Saturday's game, the Panthers embark on a three-game road trip starting with a game at Lewis on Thur., Jan. 12. Tipoff is at 7:30 pm in Romeoville, Ill.
Â
