Panthers runner-up at Flyer Intercollegiate Invitational

LEMONT, Ill.— The Drury Panthers had their best finish in a tournament this season as they were the runner-up the Flyer Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Lewis University at the Ravines Course at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois, on Tuesday. Drury shot one-over-par as a team, posting a 577 in the 36-hole tournament to finish second among 12 teams. Davenport won the tournament shooting a three-under-par, 573.
 
Hunter Jowers was the tournament runner-up. Drury's junior from Jonesboro, Arkansas, shot a two-under 70 for the second straight day and finished the tournament four-under-par. Brandon Bodis from Davenport won the event's individual championship by three strokes and finished seven-under-par for the tournament.
 
Tryn Titus had Drury's lowest round of the season and matched the second-lowest score in program history as he posted a five-under-par 67 on Tuesday and finished three-under for the tournament. Titus tied for third place in the 71-player field. Kal Kolar tied for fifth shooting an even-par, 144, while Clayton Kaiser tied for 32nd with a +9, 153.
 
Drury's team score of 286 on Tuesday was their 10th best round in team history.
 
The Panthers will look to carry momentum into their final competition of the fall season when they travel to St. Louis for the Midwest Fall Regional at The Country Club at St. Albans on Oct. 8-9.
