Huntsville, AL.— Freshman
Tyler Harris continues his stellar freshman season as the Panthers finish 7
th in the women's 5000-meter and 10
th in the men's 8000-meter at the UAH Charger Invitational.
The Springfield Kickapoo product ran a career-best 24:47.6 8,000-meter run as he put himself third all-time in Drury history in the 8,000-meter race behind Jaime Villa Zapatero and Derek Berry. Harris finished 21
st overall. Sophomore
Santiago Nunez-Gonzalez placed 26
th overall and his time of 24:54.4 places him fourth in the Drury record book. Sophomore
Ethan Haynes ran a 25:05.9 and placed 40
th overall. His time places him sixth overall in Drury history.
Thomas Shuster (25:22.1),
Colby Garner (25:27.2), and
Will Kershaw (25:29.0) rounded out the scoring for the men.
The women were led by seniors
Luz Olivera and
Zoe Van Dijk. Olivera placed 17
th with a time of 18:00.7 and Van Dijk finished 18
th with a time of 18:02.8. The duo increased their 7
th and 8
th fastest times in DU history. Junior
Bradley Weimer finished 39
th overall with a time of 18:28.7, while freshman
Ashley Sexton (18:57.1) and sophomore
Alexis Workman (19:03.3) finished 75
th and 85
th to score for the Panthers.
Drury's teams are scheduled to compete again on Oct. 21 at the GLVC Championships in Bolivar Missouri.
