LIBERTY, Mo.– After dropping the first set, the Drury Panthers caught fire and roared to a 3-1 win over William Jewell in Liberty, Missouri, on Saturday.
The Cardinals won the first set 25-20, then Drury turned the match around. The Panthers outscored William Jewell 11-4 down the stretch in the second set to win 25-17 to even the match. Drury won the third set 25-20, then won seven of the final 10 points in the fourth to close out the match, 25-21.
Kayli Duncan led the Panthers with 15 kills and posted a .323 hitting percentage.
Emily Strauss and
Kaitlin Dean added 12 kills each, while
Lauren Tyler posted 51 assists.
Bella LaPorta had a game-high 23 kills to lead William Jewell and Jesa Wallace added 54 assists.
The Panthers had a season-high .361 hitting percentage in the match.
Drury improved to 6-20 and 3-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while William Jewell went to 11-17 and 3-9 in the GLVC.
The Panthers return home next weekend when they host third-ranked Missouri-St. Louis on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
