SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— Drury ended their four-game series against eighth-ranked Illinois Springfield with a split of a doubleheader on Sunday in Springfield, Illinois.
 
The Panthers lost the first game 8-4 but won the second contest 5-3. Drury finished the day 10-10 and 1-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Prairie Stars went to 13-5 and 3-1 in the league.
 
In game one, the Panthers scored a run in the first inning, but Illinois Springfield took advantage of two Drury errors in the bottom half of the frame and scored four times. The Panthers battled back to tie the game as 
Kellen Williamson's double evened the score at 4-4 in the third.
 
The Prairie Stars took the lead back in the fourth, though, with three runs and they added one more in the fifth inning.
 
Williamson went 2 for 2 in the game a run and an RBI for Drury.
 
The Panthers ended the day with a 5-3 win in the second game of the doubleheader. Drury scored two runs in the second inning with RBI singles from 
Tyler Bastunas and 
Cooper Munro. They took a 4-0 advantage an inning later as Bastunas belted an RBI double, and 
Luc Fuller drove in a run on a ground ball.
 
Drury pitching held off Illinois Springfield from there as 
Jack Jones (1-0) went 5.2 innings allowing five hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts. 
Mason Majors closed the game pitching 1.1 innings to earn his first save of the year.
 
The Panthers return to the field on Friday when they open a four-game series at home against William Jewell. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 pm at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
