KANSAS CITY, Mo– The Drury Panthers fell in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader at Rockhurst. Drury lost the first game 6-1 and game two 4-0.
The Panthers move to 17-17 on the season, Rockhurst now rests at 11-12.
Today's first game saw the Hawks break open a scoreless game with a double to left field by Avery Huffman, scoring two. Rockhurst struck again in the fifth, thanks to a solo shot off the bat of Maya Gallagher. Drury would cut the Rockhurst lead to just two, after

The Hawks saw a strong scoring opportunity in the bottom half of the sixth inning, with two early hits. Rockhurst's Maya Gallagher would clear the bases, launching her second homer and driving in three runs. The Hawks would close out the top of the seventh to take the victory.
Kristina Bettis (10-8) took the loss for the Panthers, striking out six in four innings of work. BreAnna Droge (3-1) got the victory for Rockhurst, tossing a complete game and only allowing one run.
In today's second game, the Hawks once again scored first, thanks to a blast off the bat of Calli Wibbenmeyer in the second inning. The Hawks added another run in the fourth, scoring after a single up the middle from Allison Shakiba.
Rockhurst drove in two more runs in the fifth, after Jayla Pierce singled through the right side. The Hawks held onto the lead, winning game two with a score of 4-0.
Lindsay Henson (3-5) took the loss for Drury, tossing six innings, and allowing one earned run. Avery Huffman (3-3) was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game shutout, and striking out nine batters.
Drury hits the road to take on Missouri S&T for a Saturday doubleheader in Rolla. First pitch will be thrown at 12 pm.
