ST. LOUIS, Mo.— The number 21 ranked Drury Panthers dropped the first two games of a non-conference series against the Maryville Saints at Weber Baseball Field in St. Louis.
Â
Drury's record fell to 9-4 while Maryville jumped to 4-5.
Â
In game one, Maryville's Elias Stevens homered off
Cody Bahl in the first inning. The Panthers responded back with a homerun by
Luke Burk in the third, and a sacrifice fly by
Wes Collins in the fourth. The Saints tied the ballgame at two a piece in the fifth with an Andy Bunton homerun. A walk-off fielders choice by Michael Long gave the Saints the game-one victory.
Â
Cody Bahl went 7.1 with seven strikeouts and two runs given up. Maryville's Ben Prywich was awarded the win for the Saints.
Â
Game two did not start in favor of the visitors as Maryville burst out to a 12-3. Seven runs in the first, four in the second, and one in the third. A Burk home run in the second inning was the consolation for the Panthers in the first third. In the fourth inning,
Max Elmer drove Collins home with a double down the right-field line. An error by Maryville's Jacob Hager allowed Elmer and Burk to score to make the score 12-6. The Drury bats then fell quiet again as Maryville tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning.
Â
The final score was 14-6 with
Cade Waits taking the loss. Ben Gregory got the win for the hosts.
Â
The Panthers face the Saints in another doubleheader tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 12 pm.
