Panthers enter final weekend with GLVC tournament on the line

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers will conclude the 2023 regular season this weekend as they host Illinois Springfield and Lewis at Thompson Field in Springfield. The Panthers will take on Illinois Springfield on Saturday at noon. Following the conclusion of game two on Saturday, Senior Day festivities will be held where the Panthers will recognize seniors Camryn BeDell, Summer Johnson, Cheyanne Mohler, Megan Parsley, Karsyn Smith, Sydney Sneed, and Leaha Wininger.
 
Lewis will face the Panthers on Sunday for a noon doubleheader.
 
The Panthers are 22-24 and 10-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. They enter the final week of the regular season tied with Quincy for eighth in the league standings.
 
Illinois Springfield is 31-18 and 12-8 in the GLVC. They went 3-1 last weekend, sweeping William Jewell and splitting with Rockhurst.
 
Lewis comes into this weekend on an eight-game win streak after sweeping Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst last weekend. The Flyers will travel to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T on Saturday before making their way to Springfield to cap off the regular season. Lewis is 30-15 and 12-8 in the GLVC.
 
Drury has gone 14-14 all-time against Illinois Springfield and won all three games against the Prairie Stars last year. Lewis is 18-10 against the Panthers in the all-time series, but Drury swept the two games against the Flyers last season.
 
The GLVC Tournament starts May 4 in East Peoria, Illinois. The top eight teams in the league standings will advance to the conference tournament.
