8th ranked Quincy takes two from Panthers

QUINCY, Ill.— Eighth-ranked Quincy rallied to win game one and kept their offense rolling in game two for a sweep of the Drury Panthers on Saturday in Quincy, Illinois. The Hawks scored five runs in their last at-bat to win the first game 12-8, then took game two 17-0.
 
Drury dropped to 27-22 and 17-14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy went to 35-9 and 22-5 in the league.
 
The Panthers scored six runs in the sixth inning of game one to take an 8-7 into the seventh and final frame. The Hawks got a solo home run to start the bottom of the seventh to tie, then loaded the bases for centerfielder Brock Boyton, who ended the game with a grand slam to right field.
 
Tyler Bastunas (0-4) took the loss in relief, while Cruz Meier (3-1) picked up the win for Hawks.
 
Cooper Munro went 2 for 4 with two runs, an RBI and a home run for Drury. Luke Napleton was 3 for 4 for Quincy and homered twice in the game.
 
Quincy scored 10 runs in the fourth inning of game two to put the game out of reach with a 16-0 lead. Hawks shortstop Gino D'Alessio went 3 for 3 with two homers, four runs scored and five RBI's in the game. Quincy infielder Nolan Wossman had a 3 for 3 game with a home run and four RBI's.
 
Jack Jones (6-3) took the loss for Drury, while Kobe Essien (5-1) got the win for the Hawks.
 
The Panthers and Hawks conclude their four-game series on Sunday with a game starting at noon in Quincy, Illinois.
