SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— Drury women's golfer Shehna Akbary moved up 10 spots on the second day of the NCAA-II East Regional Championship at the Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois, on Tuesday. The junior from Toronto, Ontario, shot a six-over-par 78 in the second round and is among four golfers at 18-over-par for the tournament and in 53^rd place.
 
Anci Dy from Indianapolis leads the 81-player field at four-under-par and has a one-shot lead over Rebeca Vestman of Wayne State (Mich.).
 
Akbary started her day on the 10^th hole and shot two-over-par on her first nine holes. She was four-over on her second nine and finished the day with 12 pars, three bogeys, two double-bogeys, and a birdie.
 
Akbary is scheduled to tee off for the third and final round with the next to last group of the day and start from the 10^th hole at 10:10 am. 
 
She is the first Drury women's golfer to represent the program at the NCAA-II Tournament since Ellen Mitchell received an individual at-large bid in 2016. Akbary is the eighth Drury women's golfer to earn an at-large bid since 2004. The Panthers have qualified for the regional championship as a team eight times.
 
15 teams and six individuals received bids to the East Regional. All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top teams in each of the regional tournaments, three in the Central, five in the South, four out of the West, and six East teams, along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team, will advance to the NCAA-II final championship site, May 16-20 at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Missouri.
