Panthers start season against two GAC foes
The Panthers start their season against two of the top teams in the Great American Conference, the Northeastern State Riverhawks and the Rogers State Hillcats on Friday and Sunday.
The Panthers return 14 lettermen from last year's team that only had one regulation loss in conference play. Drury went 5-1-6 in the GLVC last season and finished 7-3-7 overall. Head coachÂ
Ben Taylor returns for his seventh year leading the program. The Panthers also bring back First Team All-GLVC selectionÂ
John Clout, who led the team in minutes played and anchored a defensive line that only allowed 18 goals last year.
Northeastern State finished last season 9-6-3, 6-4-2 in conference play. The Riverhawks defeated Drury 2-1 last year at Harrison Stadium with goals by All-Region selection Flynn Summerling and Davi Dornelles downing the Panthers. Northeastern State was selected to finish fourth in the preseason GAC men's soccer coaches poll.
Rogers State was selected as the preseason favorite in the GAC, receiving three of the seven first-place votes. The Hillcats finished last season 10-4-6, 7-1-4 in conference play. The last time Drury faced Rogers State was Sept. 3, 2022, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie with goals scored by
Nathan Logue for the Panthers and D2CCA All-Region pick Josh Milla.
Following the two games, the Panthers will return to Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Christian on Sept. 7 and Southern Nazarene on Sept. 9th.
