Volleyball Prepares for Truman State and Upper Iowa
The Drury Panthers look to get back on track with two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) games in the O'Reilly Family Event Center against Truman State and Upper Iowa.
 
The Panthers have fallen to 6-8 following six straight losses, four in conference play. Last weekend saw Drury drop two heartbreakers to Missouri S&T and Maryville. It has been nearly a month since a win was added to the record with their last win coming on September 14 against Newman. Coach Bahner-Hill's team has shown fight in all of the conference matches this season with three of the four of them going to a decisive fifth set, including against league-leading Indianapolis. In GLVC play, Kayli Duncan has been responsible for 61 points, leading the Panthers.
 
On Friday the winless Truman State Bulldogs come to Springfield. The Bulldogs have played in four straight five-set matches with none of them falling their way. In total, Truman has played in ten five-set matches. This shows that they are there close to pulling out wins but have yet to outlast their opponents. Truman is led by freshman, Michaela Goad. Goad is leading the team in total points with 193 with 170 kills.
 
Saturday, Upper Iowa makes its way to the O'. The Peacocks have a meeting with Southwest Baptist the day prior in Bolivar. Heading into the weekend, Upper Iowa has dropped two straight against Quincy and Illinois Springfield. The Peacocks have only won one GLVC game this season and that was a five-setter against Truman State. The six wins that the Peacocks have earned have come against teams with a combined record of 28-55, with only one having a winning record.
 
Following this weekend, Drury heads to Hammond, Indiana, to play in the Midwest Regional Crossover. The opponents are yet to be announced.
