Maria Fe Munoz won 200 Fly at Missouri St. on Friday
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury men's swimming & diving team defeated Missouri State 144-99, while the DU women's squad dropped a 166-77 dual to the Bears on Friday night at Hammons Student Center on the MSU campus. The duals were the first of two meetings between the Springfield programs on back-to-back days.
The Drury men's team, ranked number one in NCAA-II, won 10 of the 13 events on Friday on their way to their fourth win over the Bears in the last five meetings. The women's squad, ranked fourth in Division II, got a pair of first place finishes.
Men's Highlights
- The Panthers won the 400 Medley Relay as Ivan Adamchuk, Davi Mourao, Alejandro Villarejo, and Lucas Mineur combined for a time of 3:12.83
- Matheus Siniscalchi, a freshman from Brazil, won the 1000 Free (9:24.01) while teammate Colby Hughes was second (9:25.05)
- Drury also went 1-2 in the 200 IM as Ivan Adamchuk took first (1:47.93), and Joao Nogueira was second (1:50.71)
- Adamchuk also won the 200 Back with a time of 1:45.93, while Alvaro Zornoza was second (1:46.12)
- Alejandro Villarejo won the 200 Fly (1:48.91)
- Lucas Mineur took the 100 Free, hitting the wall in 44.82
- Nogueira captured the 500 Free (4:34.97)
- Israel Zavaleta won both diving events, winning the 3-meter with 345.75 points and the 1-meter event with a total of 342.97
- Drury closed the night with a win in the 400 Free Relay as Yuri Cabral, Zornoza, Villarejo, and Mineur combined for a time of 3:00.00, winning by 0.55 seconds over Missouri State's A team
Women's Highlights
- Drury's Lexie Waller won the 200 Back with a time of 2:00.85
- Maria Munoz picked up a win in the 200 Fly, posting a time of 2:01.51
- Mellie Wijk was second in the 200 Free (1:50.87) and was out-touched at the wall by Sophia Dela Coleta of Missouri State by .35 seconds
Round two of the intra-city dual is tomorrow and starts with the women's 200 Medley Relay at 1 pm at the Breech Pool on the Drury campus. The men's and women's diving competition will be held at Hammons Student Center on the Missouri State campus.
