SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury swimming & diving teams tangled with Missouri State in a dual for the second straight day and the Drury men's squad came away with a 156.5-86.5 victory while the Missouri State women's team won 161-81. The win for the DU men's team, currently ranked number one in NCAA-II, was their second win in as many nights against the Bears.
Women's Highlights
- Ashlyn Moore took first in the 50 Free and won by 0.13 seconds with a time of 23.68
- Jonette Laegreid won the 100 Breast as she out-touched Missouri State's Cabrini Johnson by 0.04 seconds with a time of 1:01.90
- Mellie Wijk was second in the 100 Fly and finished 0.16 seconds off the lead with a time of 54.78
- The Panthers A team in the 200 Free Relay (Ellie Walker, Mellie Wijk, Gwen Bergum, and Kirsten Lee) narrowly lost to Missouri State's squad as Drury was 0.34 seconds off the winning time at 1:35.43
Men's Highlights
- Drury won the 200 Medley Relay with Ivan Adamchuk, Davi Mourao, Alejandro Villarejo, and Yuri Cabral combined for a time of 1:27.77
- Matheus Siniscalchi took the 1000 Free by more than seven seconds as his time of 9:21.56 topped teammate Colby Hughes, who was second (9:28.74)
- The Panthers were 1-2-3 in the 200 Free as Lucas Mineur won (1:39.02), Matteo Vissotto was second (1:39.44) and Marwane Sebbata was third (1:40.15)
- Alejandro Villarejo won the 100 Fly (47.73) and Alvaro Zornoza was second (49.20)
- Lucas Mineur won the 100 Free with a time of 44.40
- Ivan Adamchuk picked up a win in the 100 Back (47.77), while Viktor Khnykin was second (48.64)
- Joao Nogueira led a 1-2-3 finish for the Panthers in the 500 Free as Nogueira posted a time of 4:32.66, followed by Vissotto (4:33.32), and Josue Hernandez (4:36.38)
- Israel Zavaleta swept the diving events for the second straight day, winning the 1-meter event with 376.88 points and the 3-meter diving with 345.75 points
- Drury's 200 Free Relay team of Mineur, Vikor Khnykin, Marwane Sebbata, and Yuri Cabral, won with a time of 1:21.47 to beat the Bears top squad in the event by 0.33 seconds
Both of Drury's swimming & diving teams compete again in the Drury Invitational, Nov. 8-9 at the Breech Pool on the DU campus.
