ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Drury defeated Maryville 70-60 as they won their final road game of the regular season on Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Panthers improved to 14-12 and 7-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Saints fell to 11-13 and 7-11 in the league.
Drury lead 41-21 at halftime, taking the first lead of the game in the opening moments and never looking back. The Panthers led by double-digits for most of the half and continued to cruise in the second half and led by as much as 29.
"We came out ready to play today," said Drury head coach
Chris Foster. "We kept it simple, attacked our game plan, and found good looks around the basket. It's always a great thing to see when our guys go out there looking to make plays for each other and I'm proud of how we executed today."
Riley Naegar led Drury with 14 points,
Logan Applegate added 13 points, and
Quenton Shelton went 3 for 3 from three-point range for 11 points. The Panthers shot 41 percent from three, going 12 for 29 and they had 14 assists as a team.
The Saints were led in scoring by Tutu Chisholm and Luke Williams, who each scored 13 points. Maryville shot 42 percent from the field, connecting on 22 of 52 shots, but went just 5 for 21 from behind the arc.
Drury returns home on Thursday when they host Upper Iowa for a 7:45 pm game in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
