Drury women's team still leads, men's squad in third at GLVC Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind.— The Drury women's swimming & diving team is in the lead and the men's squad is in third but in a tight, three-way race at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana on Friday.
 
The Drury women's team has 1,379 points and leads Indianapolis by 92 points. The Greyhounds made up six points from the previous night. McKendree is in third with 832 points.
 
The DU men's team stayed in third place and is 26 points out of first. Indianapolis leads with 1,129 points, McKendree is second with 1,120 with Panthers behind both with 1,103.

  • Cole Earl started the day for the Panthers by placing second in the 3 meter dive
  • Joao Nogueira and Josue Hernandez started swimming events for the Panthers with fourth and sixth placements in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Ivan Adamchuk and Viktor Khnykin placed second and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Davi Mourao scored in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing fourth.
  • Alejandro Villarejo was the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Yuri Cabral, Lucas Minuer, Aiden Scott, and Khnykin placed second to end off the day for the Panthers.
 
The GLVC Swimming & Diving Championships conclude Saturday morning at 10 am with the preliminary heats of the 100-yard freestyle.
