SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers softball squad fell to Augustana in both games of Sunday's doubleheader at Thompson Field in Springfield.
Â
In game one,
Kristina Bettis took the mound for the Panthers, tossing seven innings and striking out five Viking hitters.
Drury jumped to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after a long homer off the bat of
Taylor Hartsell soared over the center field fence. It was Hartsell's second homerun in the last three games for the Panthers.
Â
The Panthers found life again in the fifth, after a two out double by
Rylee Kolb put Drury within striking distance. Drury catcher
Gracie Thomas would take care of the rest, slapping a single to score Kolb and give Drury a 3-0 lead after five innings of play.
Â
The Vikings would tie the game in the sixth inning, scoring three runs on a homerun off the bat of Torri Chute. The game would stay tied until Augustana exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning, taking a 10-3 lead that they would hold for the win.

Kristina Bettis received the loss for Drury.
Â
The Vikings offense remained hot in game two, scoring five runs in the first two innings on their way to a 9-0 win.
