SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— After falling in the bottom of the seventh in game one 4-3, the Panthers retaliated with an 18-5 win in the second game to split a doubleheader on Saturday at Maryville in St. Louis.
Drury's record went to 13-18 and 1-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Saints went to 12-17 and 4-2 in the GLVC.
In game one, Drury tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth as
Lauren Beier scored on an error. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Isabella Garcia won the game with a pinch-hit solo home run. It was Garcia's first homer of the season.
Beier went 1 for 2 with two runs and she hit her seventh home run of the season.
Brooklyn LaChappa went 2 for 3 with a triple for Drury.
The Panthers bounced back to score 18 runs on their way to an 18-5 win in game two of the doubleheader. Drury scored three runs in the first, seven in the second inning, six more in the third, then added two runs in the fourth.
Beier homered again in game two with a three-run shot to right field and went 2 for 4.
Gracie Thomas was 3 for 3 with a double, three RBIs, and two runs, while
Taylor Hartsell drove in four runs from the lead-off position in the batting order. 10 different Drury batters had at least one hit, while seven different players had at least one RBI.
The Panthers led 16-1 after two and a half innings.
Drury continues the road trip on Sunday with a doubleheader at Missouri S&T starting at noon in Rolla, Missouri.
