SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury rallied from a 6-0 deficit in game two of a doubleheader and earned an 8-7 win to split their two games on Saturday against Illinois Springfield at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park in Springfield. The Prairie Stars won the first game 6-3, but the Panthers rallied for an 8-7 win in game two.
Drury moved their record to 19-15 and 17-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Illinois Springfield went to 20-16 and 11-12 in the GLVC.
The Prairie Stars scored three runs in the first inning of game one and held off the Panthers for a 6-3 win. Drury scored a run in the second, then threatened with two runs in the seventh, but Illinois Springfield got a pop-up out to end the game with the Panthers stranding a runner at first base.
Brandon Holdren had two of Drury's four hits in the game as he went 2 for 3 with a double.

Cade Waits suffered his first loss of the year and dropped to 6-1, while Jacob Newman (2-5) got the win after striking out 10 batters through 6.1 innings.
The Panthers won game two after giving up six runs in the first inning. TJ Yakimiski belted a grand slam to cap their six-run opening frame.

Jack Jones left the game with an injury after walking the first two batters. DU's bullpen strung together five scoreless innings and the Panthers offense chipped away.
Drury scored four runs in the third, then took the lead in the fourth.
Max Elmer drove in a run with a triple, then scored from third on a balk.
Luke Burk then put the Panthers in front and set a program single-season record with his 14
th home run of the year. The senior from Galena, Missouri, broke the part previously owned by Nikko Calabro who hit 13 in 2022.
The Panthers tacked on another run on a solo shot by
Briar Stinson in the fifth and Drury needed the insurance run as the Prairie Stars pulled within a run in the seventh and had the tying run in scoring position when
Luc Fuller recorded a strikeout to end the game.
JD Whitter entered the game after Jones' injury, went 3.1 innings and did allow a run after the first. Reliever
Gage Hayes (1-1) went 2.2 innings, and allowed one hit and one run while striking out five to get the win. Fuller got his first save. Jack Winterbauer (2-1) took the loss in relief for Illinois Springfield.
"Jack wasn't feeling right so we had to get him out of there," said Drury head coach
Scott Nasby. "Hopefully, he'll be OK for the long run, but our bullpen was phenomenal for us and allowed us to stay in the game, then Fuller slamming the door was great."
All nine Drury batters had at least one hit and six different Panthers had at least one RBI.
The two teams conclude their four-game series on Sunday with a game at noon at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park. Drury interim president John Beuerlein will throw out the game's first pitch and serve as the team's honorary coach in Monday's game.
