Panthers walk off game one, earn split with Maryville

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Panthers and Saints split games two and three of their four game conference series on Saturday at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park.

The Saints moved even with Drury in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings as both teams went to 22-9 in league play. Maryville's record moved to 30-15 overall, while Drury went to 25-19.
 
In game one the Panthers got out to a 5-0 lead through the first three innings. The Saints then chased Drury starter Cade Waits after five innings. Through six innings the Saints led 6-5.
 
In the seventh after Max Elmer led off the inning with a hit by pitch, two batters later Luke Burk drove him home with a double to right, tying the game at seven runs each. In the bottom of the eighth, down to their final out, freshman Cannon Stuckey hit his first collegiate triple then Kellen Williamson was hit by a pitch and Elmer drove Stuckey home with a single to left winning game one for the Panthers.
 
Luc Fuller picked up the win and moved to 2-1 on the year whilst Maryville closer Noah Harbin went to 1-3.
 
Game two did not go as well as game one for the hosts. The Saints burst out to a 7-0 lead through four innings. The Panthers did reclaim three runs as Ryker Harrington drove home Tyler Bastunas in the fifth with a single, and Connor Bain launched his third homerun of the year in the sixth making the score 7-3 in favor of Maryville.
 
Wesley Laaker (5-5) took the loss in game two whilst Noah Arras (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season.\
 
The two teams resume their series on Sunday with the final game scheduled for a 1 pm start at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park.
