ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Drury ended the regular season with a split at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday as they blew out the Tritons in game one, 11-1, but fell in game two, 9-1, on Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Panthers moved to 29-22 and 17-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and finished the league race in third place in the GLVC standings. UMSL went to 27-25 and 14-12 in the conference.
Drury scored five runs in the top of the fifth to win game one 11-1 in 11 innings.
Rylee Kolb's three-run home run in the fifth gave the Panthers a 10-run as the Panthers ended the game early with a run-rule win. Kolb went 4 for 4 with four runs scored, three RBIs, and added a triple to go with her second homer of the year.
AJ Agers and
Gracie Thomas also hit home runs for the Panthers.
The Tritons bounced back from a 10-run loss in game one to win the second game 9-1 in five innings.
UMSL scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an eight-run lead; then the Tritons held Drury off the board in the fifth to end the game early.
Maddie Illingworth went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a double, while Gwyn Miller was 1 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs for Missouri-St. Louis.
Rylee Kolb went 2 for 3 with a steal for Drury as the Panthers outfielder finished the day 6 for 7 at the plate in the two games combined.
Saturday's doubleheader ended the regular season for Drury. The Panthers will advance to the GLVC Tournament as the league's number three seed. The GLVC Tournament starts on May 2 at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria.
