BOLIVAR, Mo.— After putting up 21 runs in game one win, Drury was held to one run and three hits in game two as they split a doubleheader at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar on Friday.
Drury moved their record to 26-22 and 23-12 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats, who have taken two of the three games in the four-game series, went to 13-25 and 10-24 in the GLVC.
The Panthers scored 21 runs on 17 hits in game one.
Briar Stinson had seven RBIs as he went 3 for 5 with a home run.
Max Elmer went 4 for 5 with four runs and a double, while
Connor Bain drove in four runs and scored three times while going 2 for 5.
Wes Collins and
Luke Burk also had three-hit games for the Panthers.
Cade Waits (8-1) got the win for the Panthers as he allowed four hits, one earned run, no walks, and he struck out two. Roberto Garcia (0-6) took the loss for Southwest Baptist.
Drury could not continue their offensive onslaught in the second game as the Bearcats held the Panthers to three hits. Drury started a rally in the top of the sixth of the scheduled seven-inning game as
Luke Burk delivered an RBI single. SBU got out of a bases-loaded jam with a double-play and snuffed out the threat.
Jaden Thacker (4-3) fired a complete-game in the win for Southwest Baptist. Wes Laaker (5-6) took the loss for Drury.
The final game of the series and the regular season is scheduled for Saturday at 1 pm in Bolivar.
