QUINCY, Ill. – Drury men's soccer fell 2-0 to Quincy in the first Great Lakes Conference (GLVC) game of the weekend.
Mason Platts opened the game with a shot in the first minute that missed wide of the goal.
Carson Morgan had a chance from a free kick in the seventh minute, but couldn't find the target. Quincy applied pressure in the 13
th minute with two shots, both saved by
Camden Meyer. The Hawks broke through in the 25
th to give Quincy a 1-0 lead. Drury couldn't respond until the last minute of the half with a shot from
Liam Olson that just missed wide. The Panther went into the break trailing 1-0.
Drury pressed for an equalizer early in the second half.
Joe Loughnane fired the first shot of the half in the 47
th minute, which missed left of the net.
Gage Vehr had a shot in the 48
th minute, followed by two shots from
Lui Bull in the 49
th and 50
th minutes. A foul in the box gave Quincy a penalty kick in the 60
th minute, which the Hawks scored to go up 2-0.
Dane Prost and
Carson Morgan tried to get the Panthers a goal, but were stopped by the Quincy keeper in the 65
th and 70
th minutes. Drury continued to find a way back into the game with shots from
Mattheo Ledoux,
Guilherme Maia, and
Sergio Aznar, but they were all stopped by the Quincy goalkeeper. The Panthers fell 2-0 on the road to Quincy.
