SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury volleyball wraps up a three-match home stand this weekend with a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference contests against Quincy (Oct. 24) and Illinois Springfield (Oct. 25) at O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Panthers will look to continue a recent hot streak that has included five victories in their last six matches dating back to Oct. 9.

The Panthers (13-7, 3-2 GLVC) posted a straight-sets victory over Missouri Southern to kick off their three-match home stand Tuesday. That win followed a 2-1 weekend (Oct. 17-18)  at the Midwest Region Crossover in Hammond, Ind. DU brings a two-match GLVC win streak into Friday's tilt with Quincy after topping William Jewell (3-0) and Southwest Baptist (3-2) in its most recent conference action.

Drury enters Friday's match with Quincy (15-5, 4-2 GLVC) one-half game behind the Hawks for the fourth spot in the GLVC standings. QU, which also went 2-1 last weekend in Hammond, has dropped two of its last three conference matches after starting 3-0 in GLVC play. Illinois Springfield (9-10, 1-5 GLVC) also claimed two of three matches at the Midwest Region Crossover, but enters play Friday with just one GLVC win in its six league matches.

Fans may follow the action through the
GLVC Sports Network (subscription required), where matches will be streamed live throughout the regular season. New for the 2025-26 academic year, viewing access to live broadcasts from GLVC regular season and postseason contests will be available via monthly subscription ($30) or annual subscription ($140). Single-event access can also be purchased for $15.

SERIES HISTORIES

  • Drury and Quincy have evenly split their previous 26 meetings.
  • The Hawks bring a five-match series win streak vs. the Panthers into Friday's contest; DU's last win over QU came on Oct. 26, 2019 at O'Reilly.
  • Against the Prairie Stars, Drury has gone 13-5 overall, but UIS swept the Panthers in the two clubs' most recent matchup on Oct. 25, 2024.
  • Under head coach Jenifer Bahner-Hill, DU is 2-9 vs. Quincy and 7-5 overall against UIS.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Behind Mailie Chretien's team-leading fifth double-double (13 kills, 11 digs) of the season and Ella Rademaker's 19 kills and .389 hitting percentage, the Panthers secured a straight-set victory over Missouri Southern on Tuesday.
  • In its first home match since Sept. 27, DU rallied from a 17-13 first-set deficit, claiming 12 of the final 18 points of the set to pull out a 25-23 decision.
  • The Panthers wiped out an early Lions lead in the second as well, taking control with a 10-3 scoring run and never looking back.
  • After posting a 25-20 second-set win, Drury never trailed in the third, holding off a late MSSU charge for the 25-21 victory.
  • Drury is 6-1 at O'Reilly this season, with its lone home setback coming against UMSL (Sept. 25).
  • In her 12 seasons as head coach at Drury, Bahner-Hill (2014-present) has registered 170 career victories, which ranks second in DU history behind Barbara Cowherd's 487 wins as head coach of the Panthers (1980-99).
  • With 13 victories entering Friday's match, Drury needs just one more win to match its 2024 season total, which would also give the Panthers their top season win total since going 20-11 in 2021.
  • DU's 13-7 start marks its best opening 20-match stretch since 2019 (13-7) and matches two previous teams (2015 and 2019) as the Panthers' fourth-best start under Bahner-Hill.
  • Skylar Hilton's 68 total blocks represents the most by a Drury freshman under Bahner-Hill (since 2014); her total is the best by a Panther rookie since Brooke Antenen's 77 in 2013.
  • Chretien brings a streak of three consecutive double-doubles into Friday's match; the senior has logged four straight double-digit kill totals dating back to Oct. 17.
  • Rademaker has totaled 1,276 kills over 106 career matches, which puts her at No. 8 among all active NCAA Division II players and No. 2 on the GLVC's active list, trailing only Maryville's Ella Brinkmann (1,322).
  • Lauren Tyler brings a career total of 2,259 assists into the weekend, ranking 10th on the Panthers' all-time list, just 63 behind Karen Smith (2,322) in the No. 9 spot.
  • Drury ranks fifth in the GLVC and 48th nationally in total kills (970), paced by Rademaker's team-leading 229 -- good for eighth among all GLVC hitters.
  • Hilton's .326 hitting percentage rates as the No. 7 figure in the conference, while her 68 blocks rank eighth; Phoebe Riddle (71) also ranks among the GLVC's top 10 for blocks, checking in at No. 7 (and 78th nationally).
  • The Panthers also rank fifth in the conference in assists (882) and hitting percentage (.217).
  • Tyler's 35 service aces rank second in the GLVC and 45th in all of Division II, while her 441 assists rank ninth in the circuit.
  • After hitting .319 as a team in Tuesday's win over Missouri Southern, the Panthers have now hit .300 or better as a team in back-to-back contests for the first time in 2025; DU logged a .331 attack percentage vs. Northwood (Oct. 18) in their previous match.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

  • Drury returns 13 letterwinners from last season's 14-13 team that posted an eight-win turnaround from 2023.
  • DU won six of its first eight matches last fall, matching its best start to a season since 2018.
  • Chretien led the Panthers with 269 kills (2.54 per set), while fellow senior Kyla Clubb contributed 202 (2.24 per set) for last year's squad; Clubb added 46 blocks as well to rank third on the team.
  • Kim Quinit led the Panthers with her average of 4.05 digs per set as a freshman last fall, while Chretien added 3.80 per set; the duo of sophomore Jenna LaBarge and senior Payton Mitchell chipped in with averages of 2.71 and 2.55 digs per set in 2024.
  • Mary Henry and Riddle also return for the Panthers, forming DU's veteran senior corps along with Chretien, Clubb and Mitchell.
  • Tyler, a junior setter, paced DU in assists last season, tallying 9.17 per set to rank seventh among all GLVC performers.
  • Additionally, junior Grace Gardner made 22 starts for DU last fall, totaling 136 kills, 85 digs, 73 assists and 43 blocks, while sophomores Emerson Grossman, Gracie Kimrey, Kennedy Outler and Abby Renshaw earned playing time as freshmen in 2024.
  • In addition to its corps of returners, Drury welcomes eight newcomers to the mix, led by transfers Chaney Barth (Francis Marion), Bray (UT Arlington) and Rademaker (SBU).
  • Freshmen Megan Howard, Alyssa Lindemann, Caroline Red, Amelia White, Hannah Williams and Hilton make up a talented and deep class of newcomers and could give Bahner-Hill additional options throughout the fall.
  • Drury also turned in a strong 2024-25 year in the classroom, as 12 Panthers were named Academic All-GLVC, paced by Chretien and Mitchell, who each earned CSC Academic All-District recognition at the conclusion of the season.

LOOKING AHEAD
After wrapping up this weekend's home slate, the Panthers will hit the road for a pair of GLVC contests next weekend, beginning with next Friday's (Oct. 31) 6 p.m., match against Upper Iowa in Fayette, Iowa.
