INDIANAPOLIS — Drury senior
Payton Mitchell has been named the Athletic Solutions Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for volleyball for her performance last weekend in Panther wins over Lewis and Indianapolis.
Mitchell delivered a pair of standout defensive performances to help Drury win back-to-back road matches to clinch a spot in next weekend's GLVC Tournament. In last Friday's victory at Lewis, the Jefferson City, Mo., product registered a career-high 36 digs and four assists in DU's 3-1 win – just the third Panthers victory over the Flyers in 23 all-time meetings.
Mitchell followed that performance with another 17 digs and three assists in the Panthers' victory over Indianapolis on Saturday. In Drury's last four matches, she has logged 107 total digs for an average of 6.7 per set.
