Drury Swimming and Diving Delivers Memorable Opening Night Performance at SMU Invite

DALLAS. — It was a positive opening night at the SMU Invitational for Drury men's and women's swimming and diving Wednesday, as both squads registered strong finishes in the 200 medley and 800 free relays at Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.

Both Drury swimming and diving squads find themselves in fourth place in the team standings after Wednesday's competition. The DU (92) women trail host SMU (92) by six points, with Arkansas (126) and Utah (102) holding the top two spots in the standings. On the men's ledger, the Panthers (102) sit just four points behind Stanford (106) and eight points behind second-place Utah (110), with SMU (126) holding the top position.

The Drury men recorded fourth-place finishes in both relay events as the only NCAA Division II program in a field of six programs. The quartet of Ivan Adamchuk, Joao Nogueira, Yuri Cabral and Lucas Mineur placed fourth among 16 total teams in the 200 medley field, clocking a time of 1:25.60. Drury's B-relay team consisting of Alvaro Zornoza, Elliot Weber, Bill Beckman and Matteo Vissotto also placed among the top eight with a time of 1:26.64, which was good for seventh place.

The Panthers also finished fourth in the 800 free relay, with Mineur, Zornoza, Nogueira and Vissotto turning in a time of 6:21.25.

On the women's side, Drury finished fourth in a field of 11 teams in the 800 free relay, with Belen Morales, Rianne Rose, Ashlyn Moore and Nikol Maniko posting a time of 7:20.53. That followed an eighth-place finish (1:41.70) for the Panthers' squad of Maniko, Gwen Bergum, Maria Fe Munoz and Morales in the 200 medley relay.

In individual time trials, Belhassen Ben miled turned in the top time in the mens' 100 fly, clocking in a personal-best of 48.37. Additionally, Munoz recorded a season-best 2:02.66 in the 200 IM.
