SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury cross country's Tyler Harris will compete in the NCAA National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 22, held in Kenosha, Wis. The men's 10,000-meter race is set for 11:15 a.m. (CST).
Harris earned an individual at-large bid to the championship from his performance at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 8, where he placed eighth and broke the program's 10K record with his time of 30:39.2.
The Springfield native is having the best season of his career. In addition to his 10K record at Regionals, he also broke the 8K record at the GLVC Championships on Oct. 25 with a time of 23:51.13.
This year marks the second straight season Harris has qualified for the NCAA National Championships. At last year's meet, Harris finished 89th in a field of 261 runners with a time of 31:15.4. The last Panther to make back-to-back National Championship appearances was Jaime Villa Zapatero in 2009 and 2010.
Harris will race the same course used for the Midwest Regional – the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis.
The top 40 finishers in each race will earn All-American honors.
