Panthers Place Eighth and Fourteenth at NCAA Midwest Regional

KENOSHA, WIS. – The Drury men's and women's cross country teams placed eighth out of 28 teams and 14th out of 27 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
 
The men's team competed in the 10K and placed fifth with 240 points. Tyler Harris led the Panthers, placing eighth individually with a time of 30:39.2. His time broke the school record for fastest 10K in Drury history, surpassing a mark set by Jaime Villa Zapatero back in 2010. Topi Alahuhta followed in 39th place with a time of 31:51.2, moving him into fourth all-time in program history. 
 
The women's team ran a 6K and placed 14th with 395 points. Cera Eckenroth was the frontrunner for the Panthers, finishing 22nd with a time of 21:45.11. Eckenroth's mark today moves her into sixth-fastest 6K all-time in Drury history. Josie Diffendaffer finished in 34th place with a time of 22:05.81. 
 
Tyler Harris and Cera Eckenroth earned All-Region honors for finishing in the top 25 individually. Both runners can qualify for an at-large selection to the NCAA Championships, which will be announced Monday, Nov. 10. 
 
Grand Valley State won both the men's and women's races with 44 points and 25 points, respectively. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Tyler Harris broke the school record and placed eighth at the NCAA Midwest Regional (30:39.2). 
  • Topi Alahuhta finished in 39th place with a time of 31:51.2, fourth-fastest in school history.
  • Ethan Haynes finished 53rd (32:09.1), Gabe Bauer placed 67th (32:26.2), and Kyle Keltner finished 73rd (32:31.7) to round off Drury's top five times. 
  • Cera Eckenroth placed 22nd and now ranks sixth all-time in the 6K (21:45.11).
  • Josie Diffendaffer finished 34th with a time of 22:05.81, 10th fastest in school history.
  • Georgi Carolus placed 92nd (23:12.6), Jasmyn Douglas finished 114th (23:32.1), and Morgan Miller placed 134th(24:00.5) to round off Drury's top five times.
  • Harris and Eckenroth earn All-Region honors.
  • The women's program finished sixth spots ahead of last year's finish.

LOOKING AHEAD
The NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, back in Kenosha, Wis. for qualifying teams and individuals.
