No. 5 Drury Downs No. 4 Quincy in GLVC Quarterfinals

QUINCY, Ill. – The fifth-seeded Drury women's soccer team defeated fourth-seeded Quincy, 2-0, in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Quarterfinals at Quincy.

Two of the league's best defenses came to play in the first 12 minutes, allowing only one shot on each; both were blocked. Keira Love broke through in the 13th minute off the double assist from Leah McDonald and Elena Perez. Following the Love goal, the Quincy offense started pressing. The Hawks were able to take five shots in the final 30 minutes of the half, four of which were on net and all saved by Katy Fitzler.

Entering the second half, Quincy was searching for the equalizer and Drury the dagger. 40 seconds into the half, Holland Hawkins nearly found it, but a strong save from the freshman keeper, Devin Tracy, kept it at 1-0.

In the 54th minute, Love had a chance to score her second goal of the afternoon. Instead, while running free, she was taken down in the box by Tracy, who managed to prevent a disaster.

Holland Hawkins put the game on ice in the 64th. Keira Love found an open Elli Davison just inside the penalty area, where Davison laid a pass to Hawkins for the match's second goal.

Quincy had two more opportunities to notch at least one goal, but all were taken care of by Fitzler.
