Drury Softball Classic opens on Friday
The 2025 edition of the Drury Softball Classic opens Friday at 9 am with a matchup between Wisconsin-Parkside and Newman. Drury's first game is slated to start at 3 pm on Friday against Minnesota State-Moorhead.

The Panthers are coming off being swept by Missouri Southern on Tuesday. In that doubleheader, Sophia Luetticke led the Drury offense going 2-4 with two RBIs and a home run. The starting pitching struggled for Drury against Missouri Southern, but Kaley Adzick performed well out of the bullpen, striking out three in 2.1 innings. AJ Agers has led Drury all season, picking up the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Pitcher of the Week honors following her performance at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic. That same week she earned the national performer of the week from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)

Drury will play MSU-Moorhead twice this weekend. The two teams have never met before. The Dragons are led offensively by Avery Steffen. Steffen is hitting .414 on the season, she is followed by Annika Norman who is ten points behind her. Steffen is also the top pitcher for the Dragons with a 4.09 ERA in nine appearances this season. Moorhead is 6-11 on the season, they last competed in the Dome Invitational where they went 1-5.

The second game of Drury's schedule will be Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs and Panthers will also play the final game of the tournament on Sunday. In 14 games, Nicole Schmitt is hitting .500 for Duluth. Schmitt has four homers on the season. In the circle, Allyssa Williams has a 2.29 ERA for the Bulldogs and a 5-2 record. UMD has the best record of teams in this weekend's tournament with a 10-4 record. The Bulldogs went 4-2 last weekend in the Lewis Dome Invitational, with losses to Grand Valley and Parkside. Nat Wagner is in her first season as the head coach for Duluth.

Drury and Wisconsin-Parkside will play once this weekend at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The Rangers have played eight games this season and have a 5-3 record. Ellie Curtis has pitched in 18 innings so far this season and has only allowed one earned run. Mia Johnson has a batting average of .423; she leads Parkside. Johnson also has four homers on the season with eight RBIs. The Rangers are 5-3 but have dropped two in a row to Jewell and Lewis.

The only team that Drury will not play this weekend is Newman. The Jets and Panthers did play in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic with a 4-2 win for Drury.

Following this weekend, Drury will go to Missouri Western State on March 5 to play a doubleheader against the Griffins.
