BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Drury earned another split on day two of the Alvy Early Memorial Classic with a 9-8 loss to East Central and a 4-2 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Game One vs East Central
The bats were hot in this rematch of the opening weekend game in Branson. The Tigers scored in the first off, with a three-run homer. Drury responded with four in the bottom half of the first, curiosity of a single from
Sophia Luetticke that scored two runs.
The Panthers would score two more in the second from RBIs from
Avery Budde and
AJ Agers.
Taylor Hartsell would add more in the third with a sac fly to score Luetticke. Drury held a 7-3 lead heading into the fourth inning.
East Central would close the four-run deficit completely in the fourth with a bases-loaded walk followed by a two-RBI double and then a sac fly. ECU would add two more in the fifth inning thanks to a two-run home run.
Drury would threaten late in the game, down two.
AJ Agers would start the seventh inning with a solo home run. The Panthers would reach one more runner before ending the game with a loss, 9-8.
AJ Agers went 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, including her first home run of the season.
Sophia Luetticke would also pick up three hits in the game.
Jordyn Foley started in the circle going 3.1 innings giving up seven runs in 20 batters faced.
Game Two vs Southeastern Oklahoma St.
The Storm scored an unearned run in the first after an error by
Isabel Ervin. The early deficit did not affect Drury. After a lead-off double from
AJ Agers in the top of the second,
Sophia Luetticke would triple into right field to knot the game up at one.
Agers would add two more to the board for the Panthers in the third after reaching base after the Storm error in the outfield that allowed
Landry Cochran and
Avery Budde to score.
Southeastern would respond with one of their own in the bottom of the third to close Drury's lead to 3-2.
Budde would add insurance for Drury in the fifth with a sac fly to score Cochran, giving the Panthers the win 4-2.
Drury had four players record one hit in the game:
Isabel Ervin,
Avery Budde,
AJ Agers, and
Sophia Luetticke. Agers went the distance in the circle giving up one earned run with four strikeouts in 28 batters faced.
UP NEXT
Drury will compete in the Blue Bridge Classic in Evansville, Indiana, starting February 22. The Panthers will open in Evansville against Northwood.
