Drury celebrates Senior Day with win over Missouri S&T

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury finished the regular season and celebrated Senior Day with a 68-59 win over Missouri S&T on Saturday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
The Lady Panthers head to the postseason with a 21-6 record and a 17-3 mark in the GLVC. The Miners fell to 15-11 and 10-10 in the GLVC.
 
With the game tied at 27-27 at halftime, Drury opened up a 46-41 lead after the third quarter, then took a 16-point lead with 5:23 remaining before Missouri S&T charged back. The Miners went on a 12-0 run and pulled within four, training 65-61 with 1:45 left, but Drury answered with free throws from Caitlynn Daniels and an Anna Hitt tip-in moments later pushed the Lady Panthers lead to eight.
 
Daniels, one of six seniors playing their final game in the O'Reilly Family Event Center, led Drury with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals, while Kaylee King also chipped in 14 points. Another senior, Anna Hitt had 14 points and seven boards and Rhi Gibbons added 12.
 
Aiden Moxness, another Drury senior, matched her career-high with eight rebounds and Makaiya Brooks had 10 points playing on her home court for the final time.
 
Anna Finley led Missouri S&T with 13 points.
 
Drury shot 37 percent in the game, going 24 for 65 and the Lady Panthers made 16 of their 20 free throws. The Miners also shot 37 percent, hitting 23 of 63 shots, but only connected on 9 of 18 free throw attempts.
 
Saturday's game was the final home game in the careers of six seniors: Daniels, Hitt, Moxness, Brooks, Gabby Burns and Sydney Hobbs.
 
Drury advances to the GLVC Tournament as a number two seed on the bracket and will play their quarterfinal game on Thursday at 8:15 pm at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. The bracket and full tournament scheduled will be announced by the GLVC later this weekend.
