KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Drury's seven-game win streak comes to an end after dropping both games to Rockhurst on Saturday, 8-2 and 6-5.
GAME ONE, 8-2 Rockhurst
The first game on Saturday started slow with both pitchers dealing,
Nick Gales for the Panthers went three full innings of one-hit ball.
The Hawks were the first to crack the scoresheet in the fourth inning when Gales gave up a home run to center field. Drury responded in the fifth inning with two runs thanks to a
Jackson Crider homer that scored
Wyatt Morgan.
Rockhurst kicked it into gear in the fifth inning scoring five runs on four hits. The Hawks had two big doubles to score four of the five runs.
Drury would only get one more base runner in the game dropping 8-2.
Three Panthers had one hit,
Wyatt Morgan,
Jackson Crider, and
Gabe Russell.
Nick Gales was the losing pitcher giving up four runs in 4.1 innings pitched.
GAME TWO, 6-5 Rockhurst
Following the loss, Drury's offense hit first in game two with a
Cannon Stuckey single that scored
Connor Bain. Rockhurst responded with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Drury would push one across in the fourth and fifth with RBIs from
Logan Reidelberger and
Wyatt Morgan, tying the game at three entering the sixth.
Connor Bain would take the lead with a sac fly to score
Gabe Russell in the top of the sixth. Reidelberger added another RBI with a fielder's choice that scored
Hesston Gray.
Rockhurst would take back the lead in the bottom half and not give it back after a double and single scored three giving the Hawks the 6-5 win.
Bain, Russell, and Gray all had two hits leading the Panthers.
Markell Dixon got the start on the bump giving up five runs in 5.1 innings of work.
Brady Childs was given the loss after giving up the sixth run of the game.

The Panthers will finish their four-game series against Rockhurst tomorrow with a single nine inning game starting at 1 pm.
