KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Drury Baseball bounced back from their two losses on Saturday to beat Rockhurst in the series finale, 11-1 in eight innings.
Wyatt Morgan started the game with a solo home run to give Drury an early 1-0 lead.
Neither team would score into the fifth inning, and
Gabe Russell would hit into a fielder's choice, which scored
Wyatt Morgan on an error.
The sixth inning was the big inning for the Panthers' scoring five runs.
Luke Matschiner would start the run with a single to score
Kaden Byrne and
Landon Willbrand.
Jackson Crider and
Hesston Gray would each add RBIs in the inning, pushing the advantage to 6-0.
Rockhurst would score their lone run in the bottom of the seventh after a double.
Drury secured their run-rule win in the eighth by scoring five runs.
Connor Bain had two RBIs, and
Kaden Byrne,
Landon Willbrand, and
Wyatt Morgan each pushed one run across in the inning, ending the game 11-1.
Connor Bain led Drury batters going 3-4 with two RBIs.
Wyatt Morgan also had two RBIs.
Wesley Laaker was the winning pitcher. Laaker went seven innings giving up one run and striking four out.
Zach McKinnis finished the game sitting the Hawks down 1, 2, and 3 in the eighth inning.
Drury will travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, for their next series against Northeastern State starting on Friday, March 21.
