Drury host league leading Lewis Friday and Upper Iowa on Saturday for Senior Day
League-leading Lewis will travel to Springfield on Friday before Upper Iowa squares up with Drury on Saturday for four games of Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play at Thompson Field.
 
Drury is coming off a 4-2 week, where the Panthers swept #25 Pitt State and split with both Indianapolis and Illinois Springfield on the road. The win at Indianapolis was Drury's first-ever win at Indianapolis and their first win against the Greyhounds since 2019. Against Illinois Springfield, the Panthers won 11-4 without striking a single batter out. It was the first win Drury had without striking an opponent out since April of 2022. Over the weekend, the Panthers' offense had two breakout innings. Trailing 6-2 against the UIndy in the fifth inning of game two, Drury exploded for six runs. Against UIS it was also the fifth inning of game two, Drury went for eight runs. In both innings, Landry Cochran, Avery Budde, Brooklyn LaChappa, and Victoria Garland recorded at least one RBI. Since March 8, the Panthers have been one of the hottest teams in the Midwest region. In that time frame, Drury is 11-5 with 99 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .399. During that same period, the Panthers are 8-2 at home with four ranked wins.
 
Lewis will match up with Drury on Friday after the game, which was initially set for Sunday but was moved due to impending weather. The Flyers are at the top of the GLVC with a 23-11 record and 9-1 conference mark. The lone league loss was to Upper Iowa in a split on March 18. Lewis is on a five-game winning streak. That win streak includes wins over Upper Iowa, Rockhurst, and Southwest Baptist. Lewis is averaging just under six runs a game, when Drury keeps opponents under six runs, they have 13 of their 15 wins. Former all-American, Delaney Garden is a two-way star for the Flyers. She has an 11-5 record in the circle with 14 complete games and is hitting .462 with an OPS of 1.099.
 
Saturday with be Drury's Senior Day against Upper Iowa. The Peacocks are currently sixth in the league with an 11-16 record and 7-5 in GLVC play. Upper Iowa is coming off a sweep of William Jewell last Sunday. The Peacocks' top position player is Serah Shafer. Shafer is hitting .385 with 16 stolen bases. In the circle, Sara Reid is UIU's top pitcher. Reid has an 8-3 record in 14 games with a 4.80 ERA. The Panthers and Peacocks have played eight times before with Drury winning seven. The lone game Upper Iowa won was in 2020, the two teams have played six times since then.
 
Following this weekend of GLVC play, the Panthers will travel to Truman State and Quincy for four games on the road.
